All of our HCA’s must meet the following qualifications: Must possess a valid driver’s license, must have their own transportation, be able to lift 50 pounds and assist clients with ambulating, submit to a drug screen, background check, nurse aide registry check, sex offender check, and TB skin test. Previous experience caring for the elderly or disabled persons is preferred. The scheduled holidays the offices will be closed are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The office closes at 1:00 P.M. on Christmas Eve. Telephones are answered 365 days a year 24 hours a day and services are provided on these days if needed. Elder Care of North Alabama, LLC currently contracts with the following government Medicaid agencies: M4A, TARCOG, SAIL, and Alabama Cares Program. We proudly provide services to our Veterans through programs with the Veterans Administration. Elder Care also accepts Private Pay, and most Long Term Care insurance companies, such as Prudential, Met Life, Ameriprise Financial, New York Life and many others.
In July of 2006, we had outgrown our Decatur office on 5th Avenue and moved into a building on 7th Avenue, SE, Decatur, Alabama. At that time there were three full time people and one full time LPN working in the Decatur office, along with our RN. In September of 2007 we opened a Huntsville, Alabama office to help with growth in the Eastern Area. In April of 2011 we moved again, to 2050 Beltline Rd. SW, Decatur, Alabama and opened an office in Cullman, Alabama to help out with growth in the Southern Area. At the present time Elder Care has two RN’s, one full-time LPN, three part-time LPN’s, seven full-time Administrative workers, and over 100 home care aides.In service training is mandatory and is conducted three times a year for a period of six hours each. Elder Care of North Alabama, LLC became an organization on January 1, 2005. An office was acquired at 1426 5th Avenue, SE in Decatur, Alabama. Elder Care of North Alabama’s mission was, and is, dedicated to providing excellent in home care services to individuals needing assistance in daily living activities. The purpose of these services is to allow individuals to remain in their home environment and to continue to function with the greatest personal independence possible. Initially, we assess the client’s needs and develop an individualized plan of care. We introduce the home care aide (HCA) that will provide these needed services to the client. These health and home care needs are documented and monitored. A few experienced caregivers were hired as soon as the office was obtained. The first training session for caregivers was held on January 6th, 2005 in the office. Elder Care became a Limited Liability Corporation on February 7, 2005.
